Legislative basis: Remediation of Dwellings Damaged by the Use of Defective Concrete Blocks Act 2022

βœ… Who qualifies?

  • Principal private residence or a rental registered with RTB before 2 November 2021
  • Property built before 31 January 2020 and not an unauthorised structure
  • Located in: Clare, Donegal, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo (Sligo added 23 Oct 2024)
  • Damage confirmed by a competent building professional (engineer, architect, surveyor)

Up to €462,000

100% of approved remediation works or actual vouched cost (whichever is less)

Covers:

  • Demolish & rebuild outer leaf only down to rising wall
  • Demolish & rebuild outer leaf of affected walls only

πŸ“ How to apply & appeal

  1. Get a Building Condition Assessment Report (€500–€750, refunded if successful)
  2. Apply to your local county council – they forward to the Housing Agency
  3. Housing Agency tests & selects remediation option – you get a written decision
  4. Appeal any decision (validation, option, grant amount) to the independent Appeals Panel c/o Dept of Housing, Dublin
